The System Offices is one of several system members within the Texas A&M University System representing one of the largest systems of higher education in the nation, with a network of 11 universities, a comprehensive health science center, eight state agencies, and the RELLIS Campus. Salary:

$4,180.16 - $6,250.00 per month commensurate with experience.

Job Description Summary:

The Research Development Officer, reporting to the Director of Research and Proposal development, plays a crucial role in supporting the research enterprise of the Texas A&M University System by facilitating the development of competitive research proposals and fostering collaborations among faculty, researchers, and external partners. This position requires expertise in research administration, grant proposal development, and project management to advance the institution's research goals and secure external funding.

Responsibilities:Proposal Development (50%): Assist faculty and researchers in the development of high-quality research proposals by providing guidance on proposal planning, budget development, and compliance requirements. Coordinate proposal development timelines and assist with assembling proposal components, including narrative sections, budgets, and supporting documentation. Review and provide feedback on proposal drafts to ensure alignment with funding agency guidelines and institutional priorities. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather resources and support for proposal submissions. Research Development (30%): Identify funding opportunities and research trends relevant to the institution' s strategic priorities. Provide support to faculty and researchers in identifying potential collaborators, building interdisciplinary research teams, and developing innovative research proposals. Organize workshops, seminars, and training sessions on research funding strategies, grant writing techniques, and research administration best practices. Foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance research collaborations and funding opportunities.

Administrative Support (10%): Provide administrative support to the Director of Research and Proposal Development, including preparing reports, managing databases, and coordinating departmental activities. Assist with the development and implementation of departmental policies, procedures, and initiatives. Serve as a resource for faculty and staff on research-related inquiries and institutional policies. Other Duties as Assigned (10%): Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Research and Proposal Development.

Education and Experience:- Bachelor's degree in an applicable field or the equivalent combination of education and experience.- Three years of experience in research administration, grant proposal development, or project management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of research administration principles and best practices.- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.- Effective organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and research administration software.- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to multi-task and work collaboratively with others.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prefer a Master's or PhD or equivalent degree in a relevant field.- Experience working in a higher education or research institution setting.- Demonstrated success in securing external research funding.
