Qualifications

Required Education:

B.S. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology or closely related field.

Required Experience:

None

Preferred Education:

B.S. in Biochemistry

Preferred Experience:

Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of laboratory maintenance and equipment. Knowledge of computers and computer software related to the position.

Good interpersonal skills, professionalism and competency. Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Other Requirements:

Position is contingent on availability of funding.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design, perform and analyze experiments to study the structure/function relationships of assigned proteins. Cloning and expression of proteins of interest. Purification of proteins in sufficient quantity to obtain crystals. Crystallizaion of proteins. Data collection and analysis.

  • Conducting NMR experiments on the prepared protein samples.

-Selects and applies standard techniques of routine research and keeps detailed records of data.-Uses computers and laboratory or technical equipment to perform data analysis, statistical analysis, and technical evaluation of research experiments and results.-Assists undergraduate and/or graduate students and other laboratory, technical or field staff involved in research.-A ssists with laboratory management of stocks, supplies and equipment. -Assists with reports, invoices, and cataloging records.-Performs other related duties as assigned.
