Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Image Processing and Computer Vision Data Scientist Postdoctoral Research Associate to work in our Characterization department. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our Materials and Fuels facility with every Friday off. Hybrid work opportunities may be available for this position.

The postdoctoral research associate will focus applying several computer vision-based techniques, such as image processing and computer vision-based learning models to detect, segment, and classify microstructure features, such as pores, cracks, and phases from 2D and 3D image data collected from scanning electron microscopy and X-ray CT system.

Idaho National Laboratory has been designated as the lead Department of Energy laboratory for all aspects of nuclear fuel research and development in the United States. INL has the most comprehensive single-location nuclear fuel research capabilities in the US and the most complete and advanced complement of post irradiation examination capability for studying material degradation in nuclear materials.

Minimum Requirements:

• PhD requirements must be completed by commencement of appointment and within the previous 5 years. • Ph.D. in Materials, Nuclear, and Computer Science or a related field• Demonstrated expertise (through conference and journal papers) in image processing and application of computer vision-based models.• Hands-on experience with network-based models for image data analysis• Demonstrated oral and published written communication skills in English.• Excellent publication record in peer-reviewed journals• Ability to be a team player and organize and lead tasks.• Experience with Python or Matlab based image and spectrum analysis tools is desired.

• Annual Postdoctoral wage is $96,900.
