Job Description Summary:

The Financial Accountant II, under direction, performs complex professional accounting.

Responsibilities:

-Assists with overall fiscal operations as they relate to the maintenance of property/inventory records and reports for Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory, and as backup for Texas A&M AgriLife Research. Responsible for the physical inventory during the inventory cycle, ensuring that inventory is properly received, recorded, tagged, delivered, closely monitored, and disposed of in accordance with retention policies and procedures.

-Maintains Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory inventory by recording and entering expenditures, transfers, deletions, requests to sell and sales forms, gifts, and reclassifications. Records property changes for lost, stolen, damaged, and destroyed assets, as well as surplus sales in accordance with policies and procedures.

-Serves as a resource for units: researches and resolves problems and discrepancies, provides information, applies and enforces rules and regulations related to inventory and property management.

-Assists the Inventory, Property, & Fleet Control Director of the Property & Fleet Management Office in meeting state and federal reporting requirements. Prepares monthly & year end reports that reconcile FAMIS FRS & FFX modules. Works directly with Financial Managers of agencies to reconcile financial systems for annual financial reporting.

-Performs monthly reconciliation of state property accounting records to FAMIS records and resolves discrepancies.

-Performs reconciliation of capital outlay vouchers with purchase invoices to ensure completeness of orders. Examines capital vouchers to ensure correct entry of object class codes and transaction codes.

-Assists the Inventory, Property, & Fleet Control Director of the Property & Fleet Management Office with coordinating and reconciling the annual inventory certifications for Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory, along with Texas A&M AgriLife Research.

-Prepares, analyzes, and reconciles financial transactions and fixed asset transfers between Texas A&M University System members and agencies. May research discrepancies and report findings.

-Performs vehicle data entry into the Texas State Fleet Management System software for departments/centers of Texas A&M AgriLife Research vehicles. Assists in auditing data entry for Research vehicles. Scans Monthly Use Reports for AgriLife Research vehicles into Laserfiche retention folders.

-Prepares and reviews Vehicle Analysis and Reports for Research vehicles throughout the year for accuracy and provide updates and adhoc reports to agency administration.

-Serves as backup to AgriLife Research departments in assisting with obtaining vehicle credit cards.

-Serves as backup to acquire Vehicle Registration stickers and renewals for AgriLife Extension Service vehicles.

-Assists the Inventory, Property, & Fleet Control Director of the Property & Fleet Management Office with coordinating vehicle insurance for AgriLife Extension vehicles.

-Assists the Inventory, Property, & Fleet Control Director of the Property & Fleet Management Office with coordinating online auctions.

-Other duties as required.

Required Education and Experience:

-Bachelor’s degree and 2 years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience (6 years of experience with High School diploma or 4 years of experience with an Associates Degree).

Preferred Experience:

Accounting experience in a business office. Property Management experience especially within the Texas A&M University System.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: -Good verbal and written communication skills.

-Good customer service and problem-solving skills.-Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
