Summary of Duties
The student employment coordinator will work with on campus departments to walk them through the on campus hiring process and work off campus to give students high impact internship and work study opportunities. Additionally, they will hold workshops and 1-1 appointments with students to prepare them for these opportunities.
Most of the responsibilities will include duties such as, but not limited to, performing career advising for students, in the areas of career planning, student employment preparation & training.
Position may collaborate and assist with department policies and procedures regarding student employment; develop and/oversee the development of and participate in student workshops, professional development/training/mentoring, and student recruitment activities when it comes to career development. May lead or supervise or provide guidance to student staff.
Required Qualifications
Positions require a Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's degree in related field.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively and positively with diverse students, faculty, and staff.
• Demonstrated public speaking skills/experience.
• Demonstrated skills in leadership, specifically leading or supervising students.
• Demonstrated excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office including Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Experience mentoring/advising/counseling students.
• Attention to details, organized, and multi-tasking to meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of or experience with HR recruitment platforms, career management systems and/or Internet resources for career development.
• Ability and willingness to occasionally travel, work weekends, and work after regular business hours.
