Project Overview:

Bechtel Infrastructure, along with key sub-vendors Bantrel and Comtech, has been appointed the Delivery Partner role within an integrated team with the customer, Metrolinx, for the Ontario Line Subway (OLS) Project. The project scope includes the design build, operations and maintenance of all infrastructure and rail systems associated with 16km of new alignment, 15 new stations and related works being performed by three key P3 Contractors and multiple advanced early works (EAW) packages Contractors. Bechtel’s team forms the key component of the overall leadership team, having delivery partner responsibilities supported by two other components, Technical Advisor (TA) and Program Controls Services Consultant (PCSC).

Job Summary:

The Health & Wellness Coordinator reports to the ES&H Director and ensures that H&W programs, plans and initiatives are implemented and through these programs and initiatives assists in improving the overall health and wellbeing of onsite personnel.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Understand the Health and Wellbeing programs and resources available with each entity and employers within the Ontario Line Integrated Project Team (IPT) and lead the development of a Health and Wellbeing Program for the Ontario Line IPT

  • Develop and implement and health management plan to align with client requirements

  • Support communications, engagement, delivery and evaluation of the program at a local level. Act as the focal point for all H&W activities and events for the Ontario Line IPT

  • Establish a Health and Wellbeing Committee represented by each entities within the IPT, lead with planned activities as directed by Committee to establish the framework of IPT Health and Wellbeing Program

  • Understand the boundaries in relation to communication around the H&W of employees in the work environment. Always use a credible source for information e.g. Local Health Authorities, Health Canada, Canadian Mental Health Association.

  • Lead H&W campaign and awareness activities

  • Implement Mental Health First Aiders training program for the Ontario Line IPT. Be aware of the support services / benefits available to employees by individual entities and employers within IPT to support their H&W and signpost appropriately

  • Engage and collaborate with management and employees to increase engagement with the H&W program, including online webinars, onsite activities, communications

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor’s degree or diploma in related discipline (e.g. Health Management, Health Studies, or science related discipline) and 3-5 years of work experience, ideally in construction industry.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Communication skills to effectively communicate the programs, campaigns and trainings and act as a role mode to positively promote health and wellbeing initiatives

  • Ability to establish collaborative and effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders

  • Understanding of PHIPA (Personal Health Information Protection Act) and AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act).

  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office, primarily focused on Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Teams, and Outlook.

  • Ability to maintain the highly confidential nature of health and wellness work.
