McGovern Medical SchoolatUTHealth Houston, a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), non-tenure clinical track faculty position in theDepartment of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the rank of Assistant Professor/ Associate Professor/ Professor (Renal Pathologist).

Position Key Accountabilities:

The successful candidate(s) will join a subspecialized pathology service that supports the clinical and academic mission of UTHealth Houston and provides appropriate information to guide patient care.

• Providing training to residents, fellows, and medical students as well as developing an individual and/or collaborative research program.

• Serving as a role model in professional behavior and leadership skills, problem-solving ability, and interpersonal skills

• Collaborating with UTHealth Houston and hospital administration and physicians to identify future opportunities, and define the direction of department services; developing, and implementing plans to achieve identified goals.

• Maintaining an ongoing departmental Quality Improvement Plan and process consistent with the organizational Quality Management Plan; developing and implementing unit-specific standards, policies, and procedures that guide and support the provision of care and services; continuously assessing and improving assigned departments performance while enhancing service.

• Participating in and/or chairing committees, work groups, and meetings as appropriate

• Assuring interdisciplinary performance improvement programs are active, maintained, and ongoing. Following up to ensure that complaints have been satisfactorily handled. Collaborating to maintain a focus on providing excellent services.

• Maintaining professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, in-services, current literature, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trends in fields of expertise; supporting and promoting education and research.

Qualifications:

• Academically oriented board certified (AP or AP/CP) or eligible candidates with fellowship training and experience inRenal Pathology with a subspecialty experience in at least one of the following areas: Gastrointestinal, General Surgical Pathology, Molecular, or Pediatrics.

• Texas Medical license or eligibility for licensure in the State of Texas.

• Ability and skills to build relationships across units and clinical teams

Salary and Academic Rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
