Amazon Finance Manager, Market Intelligence - Team in Seattle, Washington

Description

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a highly analytical and detail-oriented Financial Analyst to join our dynamic Market Intelligence (MI) team. The primary responsibility of this role is to analyze financial data, examine current events and market developments, and create financial models to derive analytical insights to inform business decisions. The Financial Analyst works closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, marketing, operations, and strategy, to provide relevant insights. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated great attention to detail, a proven experience of building and improving complex financial models, and effective communication skills.

Key job responsibilities

•Financial Statement Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow, and related notes. Identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in financial data, and provide insights into the company's financial performance, operational efficiency, and risk factors.

•Regulatory Filings Analysis: Analyze regulatory filings such as annual reports, quarterly reports, and proxy statements to extract relevant information and insights. Evaluate Management Discussion and Analysis sections, risk factors, and other disclosures to identify potential opportunities and risks.

•Industry and Competitor Analysis: Conduct competitive analyses by benchmarking the company's financial performance against industry peers. Identify industry trends, best practices, and potential market opportunities or threats. Provide insights into the company's competitive positioning, strengths, and weaknesses.

•Data Visualization, Storytelling, and Communication: Develop and maintain data repositories to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data. Create visually appealing, clear, and informative data visualizations, info-graphics, presentations, and interactive dashboards to present complex data in an intuitive way. Use storytelling and narratives to communicate information effectively and concisely to stakeholders with varying levels of financial expertise.

About the team

The MI team focuses on collecting, analyzing, and interpreting market data to produce insights to inform our business decisions and drive growth.

Basic Qualifications

  • •Bachelor’s degree in finance, tax, accounting, economics, or a related analytical field.

  • •Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial analysis, investment research, or a related role.

  • •Proficiency in financial modeling tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Python, R), and visualization tools.

  • •Knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • •Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex data and draw meaningful insights.

  • •Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present complex information clearly and concisely.

Preferred Qualifications

  • •Masters Degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.

  • •Certification in Finance such as CPA, or CFA

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
