Position:

SAS has an opening for a Purchasing Technician.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and review computerized or manual records of items purchased, costs, deliveries, product performance, and inventories.

  • Develop a working technical knowledge of the goods or services to be purchased.

  • Arranges and administers all aspects of procurement services for assigned categories to various departments.

  • Accountable for end to end performance metrics for assigned commodities

  • Coordinates and review with internal customer’s requisition, scopes of work, specifications and other considerations.

  • Review, modify and negotiates supplier terms and pricing.

  • Filing, data entry, and organizing as needed and other duties as assigned.

  • Prepare and sorts documents, and identifies and interprets data to be entered.

  • Contacts preparers of source documents to resolve questions, inconsistencies, or missing data.

  • Makes necessary corrections to information entered.

  • Keeps records of work completed.

  • Transmits entered information into database.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, and volume.

  • Able to adapt to new technologies and techniques to increase productivity and keep technical skills up to date.

  • Skilled at identifying and resolving problems in a timely manner.

  • Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

  • Purchasing Knowledge, preferably in manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to comprehend data as it relates to Production Scheduling (Manufacturing).

  • Great customer service skills.

  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Good grammar, handwriting and spelling skills.

  • Proactive at managing purchased line items to minimize shortages

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability sit or stand for 8 -10 hours per day with breaks approximately every two hours.

  • The work is in a climate-controlled office.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school or one-year or more related experience or training.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX is a plus.

  • Direct experience using ERP systems preferred.

  • Computer proficient in Microsoft- Word, PowerPoint, Outlook. Advanced Excel skills required.

  • Familiar with internet browsers such as Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox.
