Job Title: Glaucoma Researcher, Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor in the research or tenure track (commensurate with experience and background).

Job Summary:

The University of Utah Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences invites applications for one full-time position at the level of Associate Professor, Assistant Professor or Professor who will work in the research side of the department. The duties of the position include:

  • Lead lab studies of MIG devices including supporting surgery, monitoring animals and writing/submitting research protocols and findings

  • Lead outflow perfusion studies using human specimens. Correlate genetic markers and outflow differences

  • Act as industry liaison regarding research initiatives, studies and funding opportunities

  • Seek extramural funding from Federal grants, foundations and industry partners

Qualifications:

Applicants must have at least 3 years experience in bioengineering and/or physiology and at least a PhD degree in foundational basic science.

Essential Functions:

The applicant will be involved in:

  • Running a productive laboratory using appropriate scientific methods, including supervising laboratory personnel

  • Document and publish research findings in peer reviewed journals

  • Seek extramural funding to support key research activities

  • Teach trainees and participate in academic activities and committees as assigned by the VP Research or Chair.
