The University of Rochester, Department of Pediatrics, is looking to hire a Pediatric Critical Care faculty member at the Associate Professor or Professor level with a particular interest and expertise in Procedural Sedation Services.

The position includes clinical service with our Critical Care Sedation Service. Very strong procedural sedation and critical care skills are required. The opportunity to do clinical service in our 12-bed Pediatric Med-Surg ICU depends on the applicant's goals and experience. An ideal candidate will have leadership experience or talent and a desire to provide administrative oversight and outline and implement a growth strategy for our Pediatric Sedation Service. Appropriate candidates will also be considered for leadership positions, such as Director of Pediatric Sedation and Chief Sedation Officer for our Children’s Hospital. A successful candidate must have a strong commitment to teaching and quality improvement, with the ability to work with and develop cross-departmental multi-disciplinary teams to provide solid-quality and high-value services. Our current group of critical care physicians is a dynamic and diverse group committed to academic development and research while continuing the mission of delivering world-class health care to our pediatric patients.

New York State license and DEA certification are required before granting privileges at GCH. Fellowship completion in Pediatric Critical Care with board eligible/certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Care Medicine is required.

Golisano Children’s Hospital is located in Rochester, New York. It boasts a 12-bed pediatric intensive care unit, a 16-bed cardiovascular critical care unit (CICU), and a procedural care and imaging suite. The PICU has approximately 1200 admissions per year. The CICU cares for over 350 cardiac surgery cases/per year. The sedation service consists of 8 sedation-credentialed Pediatric Intensivists, one Pediatric Sedation Advanced Practice Provider, and a dedicated team of specially trained sedation nurses in the 8-bed Sedation Suite. The service provides sedation support for inpatient and outpatient pediatric procedures, primarily moderate and deep sedation and minimal nitrous oxide sedation. The sedation service currently performs approximately 1200 sedations/year for several service lines, including burn surgery, hematology/oncology, radiology, cardiology, developmental & behavioral pediatrics, rheumatology, hospital medicine, and many other care communities. The sedation service actively participates in the Pediatric Research Consortium, presents research, is active with the Society for Pediatric Sedation, and is committed to quality improvement, including becoming a Center of Excellence in Sedation.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $180,000 - $290,000 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum annual salary for this faculty position. Individual salaries will be determined within the job’s salary range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations. Incentive-based compensation may also be applicable and will be discussed during the hiring process.
