University of Rochester Laboratory Technician III in Rochester, New York

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Fazal lab is seeking a Laboratory Technician III to assist Principal Investigator in the Division of Neonatology, Department of Pediatrics in conducting basic science research. The experimental results achieved from this position will be utilized to better understand the role and relevance of MAM (mitochondria associated ER membrane) proteins in lung vascular injury associated with acute lung injury (ALI). These experiments also will serve as an invaluable tool in the publication of papers in scientific journals and grant proposals.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

  • Perform cell culture using primary endothelial cells.

  • Molecular and cell biology techniques related to DNA isolation, RT-PCR, transfection, western blotting, ELISA and confocal microscopy.

  • Participate in weekly lab meetings, Give presentations of experimental plans and results during lab meetings. Weekend hours may be necessary.

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline preferred.

  • Must be a team player with excellent interpersonal, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills.

  • Computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Photoshop and PowerPoint.

  • Weekend hours may be necessary.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $18.10 - $25.35 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
