Trillium Health NY Financial Analyst in Rochester, New York

Purpose: The Finance Analyst will be responsible for proactively developing analysis and providing insights to key stakeholders in support of strategic lines of business. The role will provide analysis, reporting, and business decision support, working collaboratively with internal stakeholders to properly analyze and interpret financial results to achieve targets and agency strategic goals. The role will also lead the development of consolidated budgets and forecasts for the Agency.

Please note this position is in Rochester, NY and while we do support some hybrid work, the position is expected to be in Rochester to be able to be on site in our offices.

Detail of Key Job Responsibility Areas

  • Financial Management, Analysis & Decision Support

  • Develop financial reports for communicating financial performance of Agency service lines

  • Perform ad hoc research, analysis and reporting to support operational changes in the business, as needed

  • Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Assist with the annual budget development process.

  • Support major program carve-outs, including budget support for FQHC recertification or New Access Point submissions

  • Maintain rolling forecasted financial results when budget to actual results vary significantly

  • Period Ended Financial Close Processes

  • Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations, ensuring all differences are resolved and reported in a systematic and timely manner

  • Verify the accuracy of accounting for all accrued expenses and verify the accuracy of amortization periods for all prepaid assets

  • Maintain detailed written explanations for all accounting estimates

  • Document accounting and reporting implications of significant or unusual transactions

  • Collaborate with the Accounts Payable team to perform month-end search for unrecorded liabilities

  • Ensure adequate segregation of duties and effective review and sign-off in month-end close process

  • Participate in finance financial close meetings

  • Annual Audit and Agency Filings / Disclosures

  • Support the draft of the annual financial statements, including all schedules and footnotes

  • Draft auditable 'reference aids' to support annual financial statements and footnotes

  • Complete annual financial statement disclosure checklists

  • Support the annual audit performed by the independent auditors, including the coordination and execution of the annual physical count for the pharmacy stores

  • Preparation of agency's annual AHCF cost report, MCVR report, Medicare cost report and UDS reporting. Support in the preparation of the annual 990.

  • Collaborate with Finance and Operations leadership on the preparation of “pre-launch” filings, including Certificate of Need filings with NYS and Change in Scope filings with HRSA

  • Miscellaneous

Qualifications

Bachelors’ degree in Business, Accounting or related field plus relevant accounting and financial planning and analysis experience. Experience in the healthcare/insurance industry is preferred. Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Ability to work independently, read, analyze, and interpret financial reports and legal documents. Ability to effectively present information to senior management, auditors, regulatory agencies and members of the business community. Must be deadline-oriented, have strong financial reporting and analysis skills; have a proven track record of researching accounting matters, collaborating with, supervising and developing the skills of others. Demonstrated leadership and partnering skills, including success in influencing outside of direct reporting line

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to stand, sit, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. Occasionally the employee must stoop, bend and lift or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
