Function of Position:

This Coordinator position reports to the Director of Career Services and oversees the administrative management of applied learning at MCC to include: the management of technology used to track current and future applied learning opportunities; the promotion of current applied learning opportunities; the development of new applied learning opportunities; the collection and analysis of data; the preparation of reports on the status of applied learning programs.

In addition, this position will be responsible to build relationships with current employer partners and create new opportunities for connections to employers for the purpose of building additional applied learning and job placement opportunities for MCCs students.

The coordinator will help oversee daily office operations. This position requires working occasional evenings and weekends.

*This is a temporary, grant funded position that may be renewed annually contingent upon availability of grant funding and performance reviews. This position is eligible for paid time off and benefits.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with academic departments/faculty to standardize and streamline applied learning documents and processes.
  • Serves as a liaison between students, staff, faculty, and employers to promote opportunities to students.
  • Works in partnership with faculty incorporating applied learning into new and existing courses as needed.
  • Tracks all applied learning activities at MCC through the Career Management System (CMS), Handshake.
  • Establish and maintain relationships and regular communications with employers to ensure repeat recruiting visits designed to provide internship, co-op, and professional opportunities for MCC students.
  • Develops and offers workshops in employment training areas such as: resume writing, interviewing techniques, professional soft skills, workplace etiquette, job readiness, and other topics as requested.
  • Develops and/or teaches sections of applied learning courses, as needed, for students who may want credit bearing applied learning opportunities outside program requirements (ex. CE 255 Disney Co-Op course).
  • Engages and serves as a resource for faculty and staff on workforce readiness based on the NACE Career Readiness Competencies.
  • Develops workshops, seminars and resources on locating applied learning experiences, and how to succeed within them.
  • Represents the College at internal and external events as needed to promote career readiness, applied learning, recruiting opportunities, and/or professional development options.
  • Research best practices and stays aware of trends and peer institutions in order to recommend changes or adjustments.
  • Serves on various College committees and performs other duties deemed appropriate by the Director of Career Services.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Earned bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited higher education institution in a related field of specialization or aligned military experience
  • Experience completing projects collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proven experience working with culturally, economically, and academically diverse students.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Earned master's degree or higher in business, management, social sciences, higher education, or a related field from a regionally-accredited higher education institution
  • Direct experience in a student affairs/services office within the higher education setting.
  • Experience in career services, campus recruitment, internships, and employment search strategies.
  • Experience working with student information systems such as Banner, Brightspace, Handshake, and/or Starfish.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and training.
Additional Information:

Salary: $52,000 per year

MCC offers a Flexible Work Policy for benefit eligible employees. Types of flexible work arrangements include flextime/staggered shifts, remote work/telecommuting and compressed work schedule. The availability of flexible work arrangements varies by division, department, and position, based upon business and operational needs.
