Responsibilities

The APP in Nephrology at Mayo Clinic will provide a combination of patient care in the clinic setting, outpatient dialysis setting, and the inpatient setting. Areas of focus for this role will be chronic kidney disease including patients with end stage kidney disease maintained on dialysis. We are seeking members for our dynamic Nephrology team. Our team needs members who can quickly adapt to the demands of providing life-saving therapies while providing compassionate care. A general flexible approach will be necessary, as the healthcare environment continues to reflect the changing demands of our patients.

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant has advanced health assessment and decision-making skills, prepared through a formal educational program that meets criteria established by the profession. This individual works in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals to provide health care across the continuum of care for assigned patients. The provision of care includes, but is not limited to: obtaining patient history, comprehensive assessment, ordering (including ordering dialysis), conducting, and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing pharmacological agents and treatments, and non-pharmacological therapies. Monitors the effectiveness of the therapeutic interventions. The ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and appropriately interpret information relative to the patient's cultural and social economic status is required. The candidate demonstrates leadership through involvement on committees and team projects, education, and research and actively seeks to improve the practice through performance improvement initiatives. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and possess strong computer skills. Must be able to work collaboratively on a multi-disciplinary team. Must be flexible and willing to handle change.

Qualifications

License or Certification

Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current Minnesota RN license (or eligible) and certification (or eligible to be certified) as a FNP, ANP, or ACNP with ACNP certification preferred.

Or graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and licensure as a PA by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice (or eligible).

Must be eligible for DEA registration and billing privileges. Must have BLS certification.
