Position Details:

 

The Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences (SHS), Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, Washington State University Health Sciences Spokane, WA invites applications for a permanent, full-time, tenure-track, 9-month Assistant or Associate Professor appointment, rank will be commensurate with qualifications. This individual will be responsible for teaching undergraduate / graduate courses in SHS, conducting research, securing external funding, and providing service to the department, college, and university. The search committee is especially interested in candidates who, through their research, teaching, and/or service, will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.

 

The position will begin at the start of the 2024-2025 academic year. Start date is negotiable depending on relocation needs and contract.

 

Required Qualifications for All Candidates:

 

• Record of scholarly work with potential for externally funded support

• Demonstrated ability to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels, and with students from diverse backgrounds and underrepresented groups.

 

Required Qualifications for Candidates at Assistant Professor rank:

 

• An earned PhD in speech-language pathology or closely related field prior to hire.

 

Required Qualifications for Candidates at Associate Professor rank:

 

• An earned PhD in speech-language pathology or closely related field prior to hire

• Six years of experience at the assistant professor rank and demonstrated performance toward tenure expectations.

• Appointment to the rank of Associate will be contingent on meeting tenure expectations in the College of Medicine at Washington State University through the Faculty Annual Review (https://s3.wp.wsu.edu/uploads/sites/2135/2022/10/FacultyManual2022-2023-All-Tracked-Changes-Accepted.pdf ) and Promotion and Tenure process (https://medicine.wsu.edu/about/departments-units/faculty-affairs/promotion-tenure/).

 

Preferred Qualifications for All Candidates:

 

• Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP)

• Ability to teach adult neurogenic speech and language disorders, dysphagia, and/or voice

 

Salary/Benefits:

 

Assistant Professor Rank: $84,000-$94,500 per 9-month annual year;

 

Associate Professor Rank: $94,500-$105,000 per 9-month annual year

 

In accordance with https://app.leg.wa.gov/RCW/default.aspx?cite=49.58.110 the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
