Job Summary Drexel University College of Medicine seeks a full time, tenure-track 12-month faculty position for an educator/scholar in the anatomical sciences to participate in the M.D. program at Drexel University College of Medicine Philadelphia Campus. Applicants should have training and expertise in Gross Anatomy with some additional training and experience in some combination histology (microanatomy), neuroanatomy and embryology. Essential Functions Teaching activities within basic science courses and activities that involve the anatomical sciences. Work with an interdisciplinary team of basic science educators and clinical faculty to develop and implement basic science content in an innovative and integrated medical education curriculum. Prepare and develop online educational resources in conjunction with other basic science educators. Participate in course administration duties as needed. Participate in and design different types of active learning sessions including team-based learning. Identify, track and support students in academic difficulty within a course/thread. Participate in mentoring and advising activities for medical students. Other teaching duties as assigned. Facilitation of case-based learning sessions for Year 1 or Year 2 medical students. Actively pursue professional development and research opportunities in medical education and/or anatomical imaging, and participate in university, professional and educational community service activities based on individual interests, credentials and experience. Externally funded salary support for research activities is not expected. Required Qualifications Minimum of a PhD or a Doctorate in Anatomy or related field. At least two years' experience teaching in a graduate or medical education setting with evidence of effective teaching. Experience with or willingness to learn software such as virtual anatomy platforms, learning management systems (eg, Blackboard), and interactive or related educational technologies and tools. Proficient in productivity and educational technology software such as Adobe PDF, Microsoft Office,video conferencing tools (eg, Zoom). Familiarity with standard safety protocols, instruments and equipment related to cadaveric dissection and maintenance. Preferred Qualifications Experience in multiple anatomical sciences fields in addition to Gross Anatomy (e.g. Histology ,Embryology and Neuroscience) Demonstrated success in working well with a diverse population of faculty, administrators, and students in an educational environment. Knowledge of education pedagogy, assessment, and trends in medical education. Interest in developing new educational programs. Passion for and commitment to medical student education. Ability to work collaboratively and independently. Physical Requirements Typically sitting at a desk/table. Typically bending, crouching, stooping. Typically walking, sitting.
