Description of Department: Human Development at SUNY Oswego is a collegial department with seven full-time faculty members. The department is student-learning focused and values innovative approaches to teaching and research as well as high-impact practices such as internships. The Human Development program is offered both on our main campus as well as at Syracuse Campus and has an increasingly diverse student body. The department is also in the process of creating an online major.

The Human Development Department at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications to fill a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor of Human Development.

Description of Responsibilities:

The Assistant or Associate Professor of Human Development will have a strong research agenda and trajectory, as well as relevant teaching experience in the field of lifespan development. The Assistant or Associate Professor will teach a variety of core and elective courses in their area of research, especially reinforcing the department's coverage of the latter part of the lifespan. In addition to teaching responsibilities, student advisement and university service are expected.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Human Development or a related field at the time of appointment.

  • Strong research agenda and research trajectory in lifespan development.

  • Relevant in-person and online teaching experience in the area of research as well as in the broader discipline of Human Development.

  • Demonstrated commitment to cultural diversity and ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • If hired at the level of Associate Professor, appropriate academic leadership experiences such as department chair or other leadership positions.

  • Ability to teach a variety of courses in the curriculum of the Human Development program and create new courses in the field of Adult Development and Aging.

  • Ability to teach courses that will broaden the diversity of the department's curriculum.

  • Demonstrated ability to create partnerships and work with external partners.

  • Teach courses at SUNY Oswego's Syracuse campus.
