Fiscal Intermediary Coordinator

The Ideal Fiscal Intermediary Coordinator (FIC) Candidate will

  • Maintain a personal accounting system to track each individual's Personal Resource Allocation (PRA) with monthly reports generated for the individual using state required forms as necessary;

  • Receive, approve, record and code all bills submitted by the individual;

  • Develop and maintain an alert system to notifying the individual, their Service Broker and MSC when expenditures exceed authorized limits or are not in accordance with established plans;

  • Keep abreast of all regulations and training related to self-directed services and fiscal intermediary services. Provide training as needed to the individuals;

  • Assure participation in Circle of Support meetings personally or by the Self-Directed Services Manager;

  • Assure that all reports are submitted to appropriate authority in a timely manner;

  • Maintain an initial orientation program for each person newly enrolling in self-direction;

  • Assure all documentation, expenditures and plans are in accordance with local, state and federal regulations as well as agency policy and procedure;

  • Work with the Business Office to assure all FI practices are completed with appropriate documentation and coding to track expenditures appropriately;

  • Demonstrate excellence with communication skills, organization skills and genuine interest in working with individuals and families, support system, and other providers, professionals, co-workers and supervisors;

Requirements of a Fiscal Intermediary Coordinator:

  • A bachelor's degree in education or a health and human services field plus one years' experience working with people who have an intellectual or other developmental disabilities;

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality;

  • Adapt to changes in the work environment;

  • Exhibit sound judgment;

  • Sound decision making, judgement skills and interpersonal skills;

  • ability to work independently in multiple settings;

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals;

  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar or line graphs;

  • Must be knowledgeable about Internet software and Microsoft Office;

  • A valid NYS driver's license and an acceptable driving record;

  • Ability to independently lift and/or transfer, push or pull up to 25 lbs.
