Rutgers University- Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise is seeking an Administrative Coordinator. Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Campus Operations and Special Projects, the Administrative Coordinator (AC) is a critical member of the office, supporting the AVC and other central office staff to fulfill their mission of providing excellent service to the community of Rutgers University-Newark. The AC provides the day-to-day administrative support to the Housing, Dining and Events offices.This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:
  • Coordination and implementation of the calendar
  • Coordination of various meetings for a variety of stakeholders
  • Shopper for purchasing system
  • Reserving rooms; ordering catering; coordinating transportation and travel
  • Maintaining office technology; coordination of all front desk functions, and general administrative support
  • This position requires patience, professionalism, and ability to work well in a very busy office that provides a large volume of high-quality services
  • Some evening/weekend hour

Work Arrangement
Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Also requires a minimum of two years relevant experience in a program coordination or administrative function, good communication skills, and computer literacy.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong customer service skills and experience working with diverse populations.
  • Background in college student development and/or knowledge of college student development theories/philosophies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience assisting executive level position; prior experience in a university setting.

Immunization Requirements
