New York University Visiting Assistant Professor of Linguistics in New York, New York

The Department of Linguistics at New York University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor (non-tenure track) in the area of semantics. This is a one-year teaching position with a course load of 4 courses per year at the graduate and the undergraduate level (2 courses each). The appointment will begin on September 1, 2024, subject to budgetary and administrative approval.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this position is $70,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

The Department of Linguistics has major strengths in phonology, syntax, semantics, and sociolinguistics, as well as significant expertise in neurolinguistics, computational linguistics, morphology, fieldwork and language documentation, and acquisition. We seek a scholar whose teaching and research will strengthen the curriculum in the area of semantics, broadly construed, while also complementing and enhancing the department overall. Candidates must have completed a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline by the time of appointment.
