JPMorgan Chase User Experience Designer, VP in New York, New York

As a Vice President Experience Design in DCE Affluent & High Net Worth, Credit Cards you will play a pivotal role in shaping the user experience across our products and services. Leveraging your deep knowledge of design and research practices to lead strategically important initiatives and develop innovative solutions that align with business requirements and user needs. As a subject matter expert, collaborate with cross-functional teams, guide, and mentor junior designers, and foster a culture of inclusivity and accessibility. Your expertise in experience strategy and inclusive design will ensure that our offerings are not only visually appealing but also accessible and user-friendly, enhancing the overall customer experience. You are fluent in the language and nuance of brand architecture and how that is expressed in product design via a design system. You understand where brand strategy meets design system detail and love making the complex simple and scalable. You have an affinity for illustration and content strategy and enjoy creating sketches and illustrations to explore ideas and narratives that enrich our digital experiences. You are an expert in the latest trends for mobile and web design, as well as have a keen eye for typography and motion graphics. You understand and are skilled in balancing innovation with consistency. You're familiar with a wide range of design tools and love to learn new ones.

Job responsibilities

  • Develop and execute design/research strategies for complex projects and ensure alignment with business objectives and user needs across multiple product areas

  • Diagram service flows and product features, design wireframes, and prototype interactions for key touchpoints as you lead end-to-end design initiatives within a specific domain.

  • Drive the adoption of inclusive design practices and accessibility guidelines, mentor junior designers and foster a culture of diversity and inclusion

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate user experience design into the product development processes and ensure seamless and customer-centric solutions

  • Analyze market trends, gather feedback from user research, and learn from data insights to inform design decisions and optimize user experiences across various platforms and channels

  • Drive the application and evolution of the Chase Sapphire and J.P. Morgan brands in digital products through UI exploration, visual brand identity, illustration, motion graphics and more.

  • Help define a visual design system and language, and guide application across different products and platforms.

  • Work closely with other disciplines to understand design context and collaborate within team for solutions.

  • Develop critical thinking through iteration and design review

  • Proactively seek out ways of incorporating the customer experience into daily work.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • 5+ years of experience or equivalent expertise in user experience design or similar roles

  • Demonstrated ability to create visual representations of user journeys, such as storyboarding, wireframes, and prototypes

  • Demonstrated experience in inclusive design and accessibility guidelines, with the ability to incorporate diverse perspectives and abilities into design solutions

  • Proven ability to develop experiences that meet or exceed the initial proposal of a product or experience, including the development of transformational innovation strategies and the creation of 'north star' representations to drive customer-centric decision-making

  • Advanced technical literacy, including an advanced understanding of client-side technologies, APIs, microservices, and the components of the technology stack, as well as their impact on user experience

  • Expert in Figma.

  • A strong visual designer with a sophisticated eye for design including intelligently executed layouts on Mobile and Web

  • Excellent understanding of design systems, UX and UI product design

  • Proven understanding of brand expression in Mobile and Web and the creation of frameworks that support design at scale

  • Strong understanding of brand and marketing and how it exists in product design

  • Proven ability to distil, document and apply logic to evolve visual language

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Design leadership or managerial experience

  • Able to show how their understanding of technical constraints and opportunities informed design solutions; Familiar with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, frameworks such as React, and mobile UI standards

  • Previous work for Affluent or High Net Worth customer segments; and or luxury goods (e.g., retail, travel, dining)

  • Demonstrated ability to participate in critique and incorporate feedback.

  • Proficient at tools and process and recommends new tools and/or process improvements.

  • Illustration and motion skills a plus

  • Have an easy to access on-line portfolio with your latest work.
