Position Summary
The Columbia Center for Human Development (CCHD) seeks a Technician B to support laboratory research under the supervision of the Principle Investigator. The research lab investigates the molecular and cellular mechanisms controlling the proliferation and differentiation of stem cells in the esophagus and lung. The technician will perform basic laboratory work.
Responsibilities
Follow protocols carefully under the supervision of the Pl and postdoctoral researcher.
Perform genotyping and breeding of mice
Responsible for maintenance of mouse colony.
Perform tissue culture; prepare solutions; setup and calibrate equipment; and carry out fully planned experiments.
Collect samples and keep records of results.
Assist with ordering and maintaining laboratory supplies.
Perform other related duties as assigned and/or necessary to the functioning of the laboratory.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology or physics or related science or equivalent in education, training and experience
Excellent organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
Enthusiasm for scientific research
Animal handling experience
Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques
Other Requirements
The candidate selected for this position is required to undergo a drug screening test prior to a final offer of employment being made
Participation in the medical surveillance program
Work with laboratory animals
Potential bloodborne pathogen exposure
Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements
