Position Summary

Research lab in the Division of Surgical Science, Columbia University Irving Medical Center, is seeking a highly motivated and energetic technician A. Technician A will report to the PI. Responds to and completes tasks as instructed by the PI and staff associated with designated research projects.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing materials for and assisting in experiments

  • Carries out the activities related to the creation and maintenance of humanized mice.

  • Performing experiments according to written protocols

  • Performs necessary analysis and calculations, records data and writes reports on research findings.

  • Maintain mouse colonies, including mouse ear tag placement, mouse tail snipping, isolation of DNA and genotyping via PCR.

  • Performs mice behavior

  • Performs IV/IP injections, and tissue dissection.

  • Ordering and maintaining laboratory supplies

  • Maintaining a lab notebook or records related to task

  • Preparing solutions, cultures

  • Performing other related duties necessary to the functioning of the laboratory, research project or work unit

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two years of college or a completed A.A. program with an emphasis in chemistry, biology or physics or a completed animal husbandry program. One year of related experience, or equivalent in education, training and/or experience.
