The Trustees of Columbia University in the City of New York Staff Associate I in New York, New York

The Department of Epidemiology in the Mailman School of Public Health seeks a Staff Associate to provide data management and conduct analysis of several ongoing projects, including psychometric analysis, complex survey research, and longitudinal cohort designs. Ongoing projects involve social- and neuroepidemiology with a specific focus on structural racism; a candidate with an interest in these areas of health is preferred. The successful candidate will have experience analyzing data, and advanced proficiency in R, MPLUS, SAS, Stata or comparable statistical programs. The candidate will be involved in conducting structural equation modeling and multiple variable regression. Experience with longitudinal data analysis (e.g., survival analysis and other time-to-event procedures, trajectory analysis) and latent variable modeling (e.g., factor analysis) is important. The candidate will provide assistance with preparation of papers for publication; assistance with developing related grant proposals and research protocols to extend the scope of the project; and other support as required.


Minimum Qualifications:

* Bachelors degree in social science, public health, or a related field and 4 years experience preferred

* Knowledge of the research subject and scientific methods of analysis

* Utilizes analytical skills to solve moderately complex problems based on guidelines, protocols, and procedures

* Works within guidelines to carry out assigned duties in the design of apparatus, the adaptation of relevant technology to the needs of a project, the conduct of specific experiments, and the analysis of data

* Ability to operate and maintain equipment, computers, software programs and research tools in support of the project

* Shares information and confirmation of data

Additional Qualifications:

* Experience with quantitative data management and analysis.

* The ability to work with large teams of investigators.

* Proficiency in one of the following statistical programs R, MPLUS, SAS, or Stata is essential.

* Excellent written and oral communication skills and be detail oriented.

* High-level interpersonal and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Work experience in health research.
