Columbia University Sr Business Development Analyst in New York, New York

Position Summary

This position provides support for a full range of business development initiatives related to integration/access, growth/increased market share and competitive position. The primary function of the FPO Senior Business Development Analyst is to provide high level analytical support to the Director of Clinical Business Development of ColumbiaDoctors and the CFO/Chief Business Development Officer to achieve financial and operational goals of the organization.



  • Assist in the preparation and review of business plans for new practices and/or lines of business

  • Provide business plan training to department staff

  • Monitor and track actual performance against business plan targets

  • Assist in the preparation of presentations on any of the above topics FINANCE & OPERATIONS

  • Assist in performance of Financial and Operational assessments of existing practices

  • Assist in the implementation of approved recommendations coming from the practice assessment

  • Design and direct the preparation of ad hoc reports to analyze specific operational and/or financial concerns

  • Prepare and review financial reports of practices (Profit & Loss statements, Billing reports, etc.)

  • Prepare practice monitoring scorecards and other reporting tools that accurately summarize key metrics

  • Provides technical and analytical guidance to improve efficiencies within the organization’s analytical and reporting tools MANAGED CARE

  • Evaluate payer reimbursement levels to assist the Director of Clinical Business Development in developing business plans INTERPERSONAL

  • At the request of the Director of Clinical Business Development, represent the FPO at department meetings and act as liaison with outside agencies (accounting firms, billing companies, vendors, etc)

  • Collaborate with other FPO Analysts to enhance the overall support services provided to the department through the design and development of new tools MISCELLANEOUS

  • Keep up-to-date on Legislative and Industry changes that may affect the manner in which we conduct business

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree (preferably in Finance & Economics)

  • Advance Excel Skills (VBA)

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines

  • 4 years of related experience
