The NYC Department of Buildings is seeking a Senior Clerical Associate to help with implementation and enforcement of the City's sustainability laws. The selected candidate will work within the Bureau of Sustainability's Office of Building Energy and Emissions Performance (OBEEP) and report to the Sustainability Enforcement Associate. This position performs supervisory and/or moderately difficult clerical and related office duties.

The Senior Clerical Associate will be accountable for the following under supervision:

  • Reviewing and tracking reports for compliance with required lighting upgrades and compliance with sub-meter installation in tenant spaces, and supporting documentation, in detail, for consistency and compliance.

  • Assisting with and tracking fees associated with reporting and coordinating with other DOB units and staff members.

  • Monitoring, intaking and facilitating request for reporting extensions.

  • Developing and maintaining compliance summaries, analyses, and spreadsheets.

  • Researching, building, and updating multifunctional tracking system with individual property profiles that include all of the City's applicable sustainability laws.

  • Scheduling and planning logistical coordination, including room setup, IT support and catering for appointments and meetings with internal staff and external stakeholders.

  • Preparing meeting agendas, taking meeting minutes, and coordinating next steps to facilitate progress.

  • Provide customer service support by researching and responding to inquiries.

  • Assisting other staff in the Bureau of Sustainability and Office of the Commissioner, as needed.

Required Skills:

  1. Familiarity with the following: NYC Construction Codes and related rules, the New York City Charter, NYS Multiple Dwelling Law, NYC Housing Maintenance Code, NYC Zoning Resolution, and the Energy Code and other sustainability laws and regulations.

  2. Proficiency in computer literacy.

  3. Excellent writing, research, communication, and analytical skills.

  4. Ability to work independently and as part of a team on multiple assignments.

  5. Proficiency with PC software such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft PowerPoint.

  6. Interpersonal skills and the ability to work with people of diverse personal, educational, and cultural backgrounds in a professional manner.

Candidates who are permanent in comparable civil service titles may be considered for title change under rule 6.1.9 of the Personnel Rules and Regulations of the City of New York

Qualifications

Qualification Requirements

A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience.

Skills Requirement

Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.
