Advertised Summary Job Description The Molecular and Microscale Bioengineering Laboratory in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Columbia University develops technologies for point-of-care blood tests, wearable sensors, implantable devices, and cell-based therapy.

The Molecular and Microscale Bioengineering Laboratory in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Columbia University in New York City is looking to hire a Research Assistant. The Research Assistant will generally assist lab personnel with their research on using microfluidics for health diagnostic applications. The research assistant position will entail operation of microfluidic chips for biological assays, data analysis and presentation. The applicant should be proficient with working with biochemical reagents; general molecular biology techniques such as PCR and ELISA; and using detection techniques such as microplate readers.

Minimum Qualifications for Grade

Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, molecular biology, physical sciences, or a related field.

Experience: A minimum of three months experience working with biochemical reagents; general molecular biology techniques such as PCR and ELISA; and using detection techniques such as microplate readers.

Skills and Knowledge: The ideal candidate must be able to work independently, be self-motivated, and positively contribute to labs aims and objectives. This position is expected to keep careful records with an attention to detail. Performance will be evaluated monthly.

Preferred Qualifications Preferred: Preference will be given to individuals with prior experience in engineering and/or microfluidics research.
