Research Assistant

Value Management Office

Full-Time

Overview:

The HSS Value Management Office is responsible for the management and execution of all value strategies at the Hospital for Special Surgery, the nation’s leading orthopedic surgery center. Under the direct supervision of Value Management Program Director, this role will provide coordination for value improvement and research efforts,

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and conducts the informed consent process for patients identified as eligible for research study participation.

  • Spearheads efforts to meet patient enrollment targets for value improvement and research efforts. To that end, develops and implements various recruitment strategies.

  • Assists and trouble shoots for patients in completing assessment activities, e.g., completing paper, electronic or telephonic surveys.

  • Responsible for patient compliance, achieved primarily through direct patient follow-up

  • Collaborates with the research team and research administration, as needed, to ensure that research subjects are treated in accordance with all mandated requirements. Ensures that standards regarding subject registration, protocol specific tests, and required documentation are adhered to. Reports deviations as appropriate and resolves issues when possible. Escalates issues to supervisor as needed.

  • Performs background literature reviews to inform study design and interpretation of analyses.

  • Assists in the preparation of quality improvement and research analysis and presentations.

Qualifications

The qualified applicant will have a Bachelor's Degree in art or science, but most importantly a strong interest in medicine and research. This position is usually filled by pre-medical and other students seeking research experience before entering medical school or graduate school.

The successful candidate should possess excellent organization skills, time management skills, and the ability to manage several concurrent tasks. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is mandatory. Excellent oral and written communications skills are paramount due to the large number of professional interactions that will be required for this position.

USD $19.78/Yr.
