Summary Description

The Taub Institute and the Department of Pathology at Columbia University Medical Center has an opportunity for a postdoctoral position in the laboratory of Dr. Natura Myeku to work on recently funded project related to underlying mechanism of Alzheimer’s disease. A major focus of this position will be to utilize various in vivo and in vitro techniques to investigate the relationship between synaptic tau pathology, proteolysis and pathways related to memory and plasticity. The therapeutic aspect of the project aims at studying the mechanisms underlying stimulation of the G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) signaling related to neurodegenerative diseases.

Minimum Degree Required

Ph.D. and/or M.D.

Minimum Qualifications

This position requires a Ph.D. degree in Neuroscience, Biochemistry or Molecular and Cell Biology. Knowledge of in vivo models of neurodegenerative diseases. Experience or strong interest in GPCR pharmacology, biochemistry or cell biology and related assays is highly desirable. Strong expertise in cellular and molecular biology. Proficient in handling large data and statistical analysis. Strong skills in writing papers and grants.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Information

Experience with a variety of techniques such as: In vivo surgeries and behavioral techniques. Immunohistochemical and biochemical analysis of human and animal-derived tissue. Primary neuronal culture for various assays. In vitro cell culture for screening compounds. Excellent oral and written skills in English are a must.
