Job Summary

There is an open postdoctoral position within the Gertrude H. Sergievsky Center and the Taub Institute for Research on Aging and Alzheimer's to work with Dr. Miguel Arce Renteria.

Responsibilities

The postdoctoral scientist will conduct research with several large-scale projects among ethnically and educationally diverse people taking a multidisciplinary approach to understanding disparities in cognitive aging and Alzheimer's disease. The selected candidate will work on projects focused on the biological and social determinants of late-life brain health of aging Hispanic/Latino/Latinx adults such as understanding how experiences of, but not limited to, bilingualism and immigration impact late life cognitive functioning. Research projects will take place in close collaboration with faculty in the Cognitive Neuroscience Division within the Department of Neurology. The fellow will help with the analyses of existing data in order to begin to develop an independent line of research. Duties include data collection and analysis, publishing peer-review manuscripts, participating in seminars, work groups, community outreach activities, collaborating on research grant applications, attending neuropsychological supervision of cases seen in the department's neuropsychology service, and administering neuropsychological tests. The fellow will be expected to apply modern data analytic approaches, write manuscripts and grant proposals, and participate in a productive research team.


Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD in a related science area such as neuroscience, cognitive science, epidemiology, psychology, neuropsychology, neurology, biostatistics, data science, biomedical engineering, linguistics, or a related discipline
  • Less than five years' experience post-doctorate
  • A demonstrated record of individual initiative in research
  • Strong analytic skill
  • Potential to become an independent academic researcher within two to three years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Spanish speaking proficiency.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-based environment.
