The Trustees of Columbia University in the City of New York Postdoctoral Research Scientist in New York, New York

The Concepcion laboratory at Columbia University Irving Medical Center seeks a full-time Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join a growing research team focused on epigenetic deregulation in lung cancer. Our laboratory is interested in understanding how alterations in chromatin state shape tumor cell fate throughout tumor evolution. Areas of investigation include: 1) understanding how mutations in chromatin regulators alter the chromatin landscape to facilitate malignant transformation; 2) investigating gene regulatory programs co-opted by cancer cells throughout tumor progression, and 3) identifying dependencies and targetable features of lung cancers harboring specific mutations in chromatin regulators. To this end, we use a combination of genetically engineered mouse models, organoids, and patient-derived samples and leverage cutting-edge approaches in gene editing, organoid technologies, and various -omics.

The candidate will train in a highly supportive and collaborative research environment in the vibrant scientific environment at Columbia University which includes the Department of Molecular Pharmacology & Therapeutics and the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center. The candidate will work with a growing team of cancer researchers and have the opportunity to attend and present at scientific conferences, interact with industry on projects spanning basic and translational science, mentor students, and engage with the patient community.

We are particularly looking for candidates with training in computational biology that are interested in both computational and bench work. This is an ideal position for a computational biology PhPh.D.eeking to gain more experience in cancer research in a supportive environment.


Minimum Degree Required

  • Ph.D., MD, or equivalent doctoral degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in molecular and cellular biology, 2D and organoid culture systems, generation, and analyses of mouse models of cancer, -omic technologies
  • Training in bioinformatics
  • Excellent scientific and interpersonal communication skills
  • Highly organized
  • Team player
