The Department of Epidemiology at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health in New York City invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist with interest in infectious disease modeling and statistical inference. This position is funded by a grant from the NIH to study measles persistence and population dynamics. The Postdoctoral Research Scientist will join an experienced modeling team to develop cutting-edge model-Bayesian inference systems to study the spatial, temporal, and demographic dynamics of measles epidemics in recent decades and test different intervention/elimination strategies.
The position will be re-newed on an annual basis based on performance, up to 3 years.
Minimum Degree Required
PhD, ScD, or equivalent degree in Epidemiology, Statistics, Applied Mathematics or related discipline. Candidates with prior postdoctoral training are also eligible to apply.
Strong interest in infectious disease dynamics/epidemiology; Experience in programing languages such as R, C/C++, or Matlab; Background in applied mathematics/statistics/engineering; Strong learning skills; Excellent communication and analytical skills; Ability to conduct self-directed and collaborative research; Experience with modeling of measles is a plus, but is not required.
