The Trustees of Columbia University in the City of New York Lecturer in the Discipline of Film in New York, New York

Columbia University School of the Arts invites applications for the position of Lecturer in the Discipline of Film to begin July 1, 2024.

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive instruction for students to develop the practical skills and aesthetic considerations of Film and Television editing, and prepare them for opportunities in the industry. The Lecturer will teach six classes, 3 classes each fall and spring semester, or the equivalent. Other duties include overseeing the Editing curriculum for the Film MFA, recruiting and recommending for appointment adjunct faculty to teach editing courses, providing individual advisement for advanced students, participating in committee work, including admission committees, developing relationships that result in the opportunity for students to use professional editing facilities, and alerting students to industry job opportunities among other responsibilities.

The Columbia University School of the Arts offers Masters of Fine Arts Degrees in four disciplines: Film, Theatre, Visual Arts and Writing; a Masters of Arts degree in Film Studies; and undergraduate majors in Creative Writing, Film Studies and Visual Arts.

Minimum Degree Required: BA/BS or equivalent undergraduate degree.

Preferred Degree Required: MFA/graduate degree.
