The Department of Pharmacology at Columbia University in the City of New York is seeking candidates for tenured/tenure-track faculty positions. Applicants must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree and have demonstrated excellence in research. The faculty appointment will be in the Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons (VP&S) of Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) and Columbia University (CU).
The Department of Pharmacology is launching a vast recruitment initiative under the leadership of its new chairperson, Dr. Cory Abate-Shen. We are seeking to expand research in basic cellular mechanisms and signaling pathways, with an emphasis on those having demonstrable clinical relevance or translational impact. Research areas span a wide range of interests in pharmacology as broadly defined, including chemical biology, pharmacogenomics, cellular metabolism, metabolomics, drug discovery and systems biology, as applied to cancer pharmacology, cardiovascular pharmacology, and neuropharmacology. Candidates should have demonstrated a high level of productivity in their field of interest and the ability to secure external funding. They will be expected to develop an internationally recognized extramurally funded research program, and be committed to the education mission of the Department.
Successful candidates will have a laboratory in newly renovated space at CUIMC. Faculty in the Department of Pharmacology are associated with the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, hold membership in numerous Institutes and Centers such as the Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center, Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the Motor Neuron Center, and have the opportunity to interact with faculty at Columbia University Morningside Campus.
Minimum Degree Required
Ph.D. and/or MD degree
Must demonstrate the ability to develop an internationally recognized extramural funded research program.
First consideration will be given to applications received by November 1, 2019, but applications will be accepted after this date. Include a curriculum vitae (five pages maximum), Statement of Research with description of significant research accomplishments and future research plans (four pages maximum), & minimum of three (maximum of five) letters of reference.
