Advertised Summary Job Description The Development Assistant provides administrative and general office assistance to the Development Officer. Duties include:

  • The incumbent researches prospective donors; researches and analyzes statistical data; and drafts and compiles proposals and reports, based on concepts and parameters established by the Development Officer, to foundations, corporations, government agencies, and major donors.

  • Drafts administrative memorandums, letters of correspondence, requests for gift renewals, and thank you and acknowledgement letters.

  • Produces the semi-annual newsletter with a circulation of up to 10,000, including the drafting articles.

  • Schedules site visits and meetings, compiling necessary information for the meetings; maintains the development calendar and proposal tracking system; attends development committee meetings and produces materials for presentations; and assists in coordinating the Annual Benefit Auction

  • Directs work-study, casual and volunteer employees in the Development Officer's absence; maintains filing systems; and handles other administrative and office tasks as needed.

-Assists in coordinating the Annual Benefit Gala/Auction, including drafting articles and overseeing distribution, both online and hard copy

Minimum Qualifications for Grade

Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of three years' administrative or related experience required.

Additional Position-Specific Minimum Qualifications

Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant Strong communication, organizational, writing and interpersonal skills necessary. Strong computer skills required, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook). Must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently, and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously in a high-volume environment, while discreetly handling highly sensitive and confidential information. Some evening hours may be required.

Special Instructions

Preferred Qualifications Interest in fund raising with some fund raising or development office experience preferred. Knowledge of Raiser's Edge, Adobe Pagemaker and/or basic web design skills preferred. Some College and web design skills.
