Advertised Summary Job Description FORT LEE, NJ OFFICE LOCATION. The incumbent will provide secretarial and clerical support to the Director of Coding and Billing Compliance and assist with day-to-day activities related to the Departmental Compliance Program for Consolidated Radiology.
Perform secretarial and clerical duties such as typing, answering phones, photocopying and filing. Maintain and Reconcile MD Audit used for the performance of Physician review through MD Audit.
Keep up Optum CAC Coding System database with New Providers, Billing Area, Billing Rules, Daily Coder Productivity Report, and Document Status Report.
Work with Director, Coding Team, and A-Life support to correct errors within the Optum Computer Assisted Coding.
Retrieve medical reports at the request of Insurance carriers.
Distribute TES reports from IDX daily.
Escalate system issues to Departmental Director of Coding and Billing Compliance for Consolidated Radiology.
Work independently as a member of the coding Unit within Radiology Billing Office.
Role is to evaluate clinical documentation of medical and surgical services recommending CPT codes and ICD-10 codes for the purpose of billing insurance companies for services rendered by physicians on a part time basis.
Medical coding is performed in accordance with established standards identified by the Columbia University Billing Compliance Department, the Health Care Financing Administration, Medicaid and other regulatory and professional organizations. Using the ICD-10 manuals, review medical reports to identify the diagnosis indicated recommending appropriate ICD-10 codes in accordance with University Billing Compliance Department, the Healthcare Financing Administration, Medicaid and other regulatory and professional organizations in the Department.
Keep track of Coder Productivity and present to Director Coding and Billing Compliance. Maintain awareness of personal and unit productivity recommending efficiencies and/or new methods.
Prepare and maintain various Excel spreadsheets.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Overtime may be required during busy periods.
Minimum Qualifications for Grade
Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant High school diploma or equivalent and at least 1-2 years of related work experience or equivalent in education, training and/or experience.
Additional Position-Specific Minimum Qualifications
Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant Must be computer literate with working knowledge of MS-Word, MS-Excel and MS-PowerPoint. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Excellent organization skills, ability to meet deadlines and multi-task is required.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment and simultaneously undertake multiple tasks. Good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills as well as developed levels of discretion and confidentiality are essential. Must possess the ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and take initiative. Experience with professional services coding and knowledge of medical terminology required.
Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of IDX billing system preferred. Experience in an academic faculty practice, physician's private office or clinical setting preferred.
Specialized knowledge in Radiology Interventional Coding preferred.
Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification preferred.
