City of New York Community Coordinator in New York, New York

Job Description

The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order. The NYPD strives to foster a safe and fair city by incorporating Neighborhood Policing into all facets of Department operations and solve the problems that create crime and disorder through an interdependent relationship between the people and its police, and by pioneering strategic innovation.

The Facilities Management Division plays a critical role in keeping Department facilities operating safe for staff and visitors as it oversees the maintenance for over 250 Department facilities citywide. FMD manages multiple facility renovations that support Department initiatives and unit relocations. FMD is comprised of uniform, civilian trades, professional and administrative staff.

The selected candidate’s responsibilities will include:

  • Plans, implements, coordinates may monitor and/or evaluate community services.

  • Prepares documents for funding community programs, prepares evaluations, reports, analyses and reviews program plans, funding and performance.

  • Makes recommendations on policies and procedures.

  • Provides interpretation of complex problems and assistance in training to subordinate staff.

Qualifications

  1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or

  2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or

  3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
