Advertised Summary Job Description Under the direction of the Director of the Center for Lymphoid Malignancies (CLM), the Clinical Coordinator III will be responsible for the assessment and management of patients, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. Provide outpatient assessment and management of medical oncology patients. Assist physicians during examinations and procedures, including obtaining vitals. Review laboratory results and order appropriate tests. Provide follow-up instructions and patient education and monitor follow-up appointments.
Perform venipuncture and midline insertion for the initiation and maintenance of IV therapy as ordered for intravenous solutions, medications, chemotherapy. Administer chemotherapy. Provide central venous catheter and PICC line care. Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection from central venous catheters (mediport, PICC, Hickman, etc). Conduct patient/family education on various therapies and maintenance of central access devices. Assessment of patient for side effects of treatment and symptoms related to disease or disease progression. Document, on the charge ticket, services performed and medications given to patient. Inform clinic manager of clinic needs and concerns relating to the work environment. Document in patient chart according to practice guidelines, and conform to all applicable HIPAA, Billing Compliance and safety guidelines. Assist physicians with related duties as directed and perform other tasks as needed.
Minimum Qualifications for Grade
Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of nursing experience. BLS Certification and current New York State RN license.
Additional Position-Specific Minimum Qualifications
Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant Master's degree would subsitute for experience. Detail oriented, well organized, superior customer skills in a high volume environment. Ability to interact with patient and clinicians required. Highly effective written and verbal communication skills. Experience with chemotherapy infusion. Excellent IV skills.
Preferred Qualifications At least two years of experience in medical oncology and/or chemo infusion nursing preferred. Knowledge of CPT and ICD10 codes, a plus.
