The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Registered Nurse to join the outpatient practice at the Center For Advanced Cardiac Care (CACC), specializing in Advanced Heart Failure, Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension, LVAD, and Cardiac Transplantation programs. Reporting to the Chief Nurse Practitioner, the RN will collaborate with Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and other multidisciplinary team members to ensure exceptional patient care within the CACC Program.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate comprehensive patient care and provide education to patients and caregivers.
  • Support ongoing clinical operations of the CACC programs, delivering compassionate, patient-centered care.
  • Deliver outpatient care, including symptom follow-up, coordination of diagnostic testing, review of diagnostic reports, and direct patient care under supervision.
  • Actively participate in patient management and contribute to the vision of the CACC program.
  • Implement nursing care in collaboration with Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Medical Doctors (MDs) of the Center for Advanced Cardiac Care.
  • Work in the clinical-administrative office setting for patient care management.
  • Care for ambulatory patients with advanced heart failure, pulmonary arterial hypertension, LVAD, and/or pre- and post-heart transplant, including managing medical therapies.
  • Obtain and review laboratory and diagnostic test results; conduct telephonic triage for symptomatic patient callers.
  • Provide initial and ongoing patient and caregiver education on medication, diet, and lifestyle management.
  • Administer nursing care in the clinic as directed by collaborating Physicians and Nurse Practitioners.
  • Document clinical activities accurately in the outpatient medical record.
  • Perform remote monitoring/assessment as prescribed by collaborating Physicians and Nurse Practitioners.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills and flexibility in managing complex patients in a dynamic care setting.
  • Report directly to the Chief Nurse Practitioner and undertake additional assigned duties within the scope of education and training.
  • Adhere to all HIPAA, billing compliance, and safety guidelines.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of nursing experience.
  • Current NYS RN license
  • BLS certification.
  • Basic level MS Office skills.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to address issues constructively.
  • Demonstrated accountability for professional practice and willingness to seek guidance when needed.
  • Professional demeanor in all interactions, maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and commitment to organizational success.
  • Compliance with mandatory education and awareness of legal and financial frameworks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in telemetry, intensive care, coronary care, step-down units, cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, or emergency departments.
  • ACLS certification.

  • Participation in medical surveillance program
    • Contact with patients and/or human research subjects
    • Wear N-95 respirator
    • Potential bloodborne pathogen exposure
  • Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements
