The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics at Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons invites outstanding candidates to apply for TENURE-TRACK faculty positions at the level of Assistant Professor., with an interdisciplinary appointment in the Taub Institute for Research on Alzheimer's Disease and the Aging Brain.

The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics offers a rigorous and stimulating environment for conducting research. Faculty use the full spectrum of contemporary biophysical, biochemical, molecular biological, and cellular techniques to study developmental biology; gene expression, regulation, and signal transduction; macromolecular structure, function, and dynamics; and molecular neurobiology. The Department has a rich history of excellence in molecular and structural biology and molecular neuroscience.

The candidate will be expected to participate in the educational, research, and other academic service programs of the Department and the Taub Institute and to build your independent research program.

Duties include:

  • Conducting research and publishing papers in academic journals.
  • Writing proposals to secure funding for research.
  • training, and mentoring undergraduate, graduate students, and postgraduate researchers.
  • Providing demonstrations and supervising experiments and investigations.
  • Assisting with departmental and institutional duties and attending faculty and departmental meetings
  • Attending conferences and delivering presentations.

Candidates should possess a Ph.D., MD, or MD/PhD degree, and are expected to develop an externally funded research program, mentor students and fellows, and participate in teaching of graduate students.
