Assistant Professor - Statistics

FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College, City University of New York is seeking applicants for a full-time tenure track faculty position in Statistics in the Paul H. Chook Department of Information Systems and Statistics. The position is open only at the Assistant Professor level and begins in the Fall 2024 semester. Preference will be given to applicants who conduct research in data science and can teach courses in the data science area.

Faculty members in the Statistics area are active in research and have published in top journals, including Journal of the American Statistical Association, Annals of Statistics, Journal of Computational and Graphical Statistics, Journal of Machine Learning Research, JRSS Series B and Biometrika, among others. Applicants must conduct high-quality research in statistics and data science. They should either have published or demonstrate the ability to publish in premier journals in statistics and data science. Applicants must also be able to teach a variety of courses in the department including, but not limited to, machine learning/data mining, natural language processing/text mining, causality and experimental design, probability and statistical inference, business statistics among others.

The largest accredited collegiate school of business in the United States, Baruch College's Zicklin School of Business has earned a national and international reputation for excellence. It offers nationally ranked undergraduate, part-time and full-time MBA programs, specialized masters, and doctoral programs. The Paul H. Chook Department of Information Systems and Statistics offers undergraduate majors and minors in Information Systems (IS) and in Statistics and Quantitative Modeling (SQM). It also offers four specialized MS degrees in IS, Business Analytics, Statistics, and Quantitative Methods & Modeling as well as a PhD program in IS. It also provides courses for our MBA program.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must either have or expect completion of Ph.D. in Statistics, Data Science or related fields.

They should have a proven record or the potential for high quality scholarly research leading to publications in premier peer-reviewed journals in Statistics and Data Science. They must also be able to teach a variety of courses in the department including, but not limited to,machine learning/data mining, natural language processing/text mining, causality and experimental design, probability and statistical inference, business statistics among others.

COMPENSATION

135,000-160,000; Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience
