Work Schedule: Mon-Fri: 8:00am-5:00pm

Job Summary:

The Pathologist Assistant Manager oversees grossing staff and processes, ensuring efficient dissection and submission of surgical pathology specimens. Responsibilities include supervising workflow, acting as a liaison between departments, managing personnel, updating protocols, and addressing quality and productivity issues. Adherence to safety protocols, regulatory guidelines, and company policies is paramount.

Essential Functions:

  • Dissect and submit surgical pathology specimens, dictating gross descriptions.

  • Supervise workflow for surgical specimens and act as a liaison between departments.

  • Participate in laboratory performance improvement activities and resolve grossing issues.

  • Manage personnel-related duties, including hiring, scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.

  • Create and update grossing standard operating procedures and protocols.

  • Monitor and adjust workflow, addressing issues with quality, productivity, and turnaround times.

  • Ensure adherence to laboratory safety precautions and procedures.

  • Support the company's mission, vision, goals, and comply with corporate policies, including privacy and security.

  • Collaborate with other departments and subsidiaries.

Education & Licensure:

  • Bachelor's degree as a Pathologist Assistant.

  • ASCP or equivalent certification as a Pathologist Assistant.

  • Continuous education to maintain certification and enhance knowledge.

Requirements:

  • Completion of a formal Pathologist Assistant Training program.

  • Minimum of three years of experience as a Pathologist Assistant.

  • Minimum of one year of supervisory or managerial experience in a laboratory setting.
