Position: Community Relations Coordinator

Agency: Henry County Board of Developmental Disabilities

Location: 135 East Maumee Avenue, Napoleon, OH 43545

Essential Job Functions:

Serves as chair of the Community Support Committee. Prepares agenda, organizes, and directs meetings, contacts newspaper and radio station for community support purposes.

Serves as the Board's Public Relations contact. Organizes and directs communications to promote Board objectives.

Works with the leadership team and Superintendent to develop and implement cohesive communication, agency diversity, and branding.

Generates partnerships to help drive community outreach and communicates these efforts to internal and external constituents.

Plan, manage, and implement day-to-day public and community relations activities: public education and awareness activities, community tours, news releases and news articles, public speaking engagements, media relations, marketing, and agency events.

Design, write, produce, and implement external communication pieces: newsletters, billboards, annual reports, program brochures, displays, social media and agency website.

Serves as the contact for the HOPE Foundation grants. Attends quarterly meetings and types meeting notes.

Coordinates regular radio spots.

Coordinates and provides opportunities for individuals to participate in social groups and integrated community activities to increase the skills needed to promote self-advocacy.

Communicates with self-advocates, parents, guardians, providers and SSA's on a regular basis regarding activities and events that promote self-advocacy, recreation, socialization, and community integration.

Maintains documentation related to activities and/or events in which self-advocates participate in.

Creates metrics to measure effectiveness of self-advocacy program.

 

Qualifications:

Must have a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent, bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience in marketing and community collaborations.

Experience working with technology; including word processing, spreadsheet, and multimedia applications.

Maintain a valid Driver's License for the purpose of transporting individuals served and/or operation of a Board owned vehicle. Employee must possess/maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record as established by Board policy. Employee must provide proof of liability insurance per Board procedure. Must be able to travel locally and statewide.

 

Compensation:

Commensurate with qualifications and experience
