Google Wireless System Engineer, Bluetooth, Google Pixel in Mountain View, California

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 3 years of experience in electrical/wireless engineering.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.

  • Experience in RF test setup and common lab equipment such as a spectrum analyzer.

  • Experience in Bluetooth and/or Wi-Fi, UWB, Cellular technology and protocol.

  • Experience in scripting (e.g., Python, Shell, C/C++, Java).

  • Experience in wireless communication with an understanding of wireless link budget analysis, system KPI definition, and performance/power optimization techniques.

  • Knowledge of subsystems such as antenna, RF, with the ability to perform system analysis and trade-off.

As a Wireless Systems team, we work on defining and driving technology roadmaps and investigating new features and use cases. With the new technologies, we implement them onto the Google hardware products, and optimize the performance and power consumption. The ultimate goal of our work is to deliver high quality connectivity in Google’s products, such as phones and devices, to help users around the world during their daily routines.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work through the entire development cycle of Pixel hardware products and impact the critical design decisions. You will work with cross-functional teams to optimize the Pixel performance and power consumption, to achieve the high quality results. You will work on new bluetooth technologies which would shape the future bluetooth ecosystem.

The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000-$178,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Work on bluetooth subsystem on Pixel devices.

  • Help define system performance and power consumption Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) by doing system level analysis and budgeting.

  • Perform optimization and tuning to meet the performance power KPIs in addition to performing and monitoring performance and power regression via automation tests.

  • Work with cross-functional teams to analyze and debug issues from users, and drive the fix implementation.

  • Help on new bluetooth technologies and the implementation on devices to improve user experience.
