The Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases, has an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Specialist, Research. The Nurse Specialist, Research ensures that the integrity and quality of clinical research studies is maintained and that studies are conducted in accordance with research guidelines, federal (especially FDA) and sponsor regulations, and institutional policies and procedures. Additionally, the Nurse Specialist, Research plays a key role in the recruitment of participants and achievement of research objectives.

Provide support on MWCCS protocol:

  • Assists the PI and/or Clinical Manager in reviewing research clinical labs results, sending results to clinical providers, and acting as a liaison between the PI and/or Clinical Manager to ensure that results are received and referral linked.

  • Performing Pulmonary Function Tests, Fibroscans, anthropometric measurements, and other research measurements as per protocol, and assisting staff in performing the measures.

Provide support on All of Us protocol:

Adverse Events

  • Assess and Assist program research participants that experience Adverse Events during program related visits.

  • Complete and submit Adverse Events reports following the program protocol and guidelines.

Phlebotomy

  • Monitors phlebotomy procedures are implemented and provided according to the University and Research Program protocols and procedures.

  • Provides spot checks to monitor phlebotomy procedures.

  • Assist on the review of research documentation, policies, rules and regulations of the research program related with Adverse Events and phlebotomy procedures.

Compliance

  • Assists on the development and implementation of compliance and quality assurance activities for the research program.

  • Tracks and ensure compliance of research team members with research training requirements.

  • Responsible for the creation and review of standard manual procedures

  • Conducts continuous training to existing or new staff regarding current and new compliance regulations.

  • Tracks and ensure compliance of research team members with research training requirements.

  • Maintains current knowledge, communicates changes and serves as an educational resource of national and local rules, documentation guidelines and compliance regulations.

  • Identifies and reports general compliance issues that may arise through the work process.

AoU Clinical Research Support

  • Conducting basic examinations such as height, weight, automated blood pressure readings related with the research program as needed.

  • Assists with the designs and implementation of clinical program activities.

  • Understands and provides advise on the implementation of clinical protocols related with the research program.

  • Assist on the design, development, and implementation of staff training as needed.

  • Communicate with the PIs with questions or concerns regarding the research program.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required

Valid/Current Florida RN license

Certification in relevant specialty or field

Minimum 3 years of relevant experience

  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.

  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.

  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.

  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
