The Sander is a non-exempt (hourly) position that reports to the Sanding Team Leader. The Sander should have good knowledge on sanding techniques. The role is responsible for using sanding devices to improve quality of products. The position is a great opportunity to learn new skills over time.Responsibilities: Achieve throughput and quality standards by effectively using documentation, equipment, labor, and facilities devoted to the efficient sanding of molded products in preparation for painting. The Sander executes a daily manufacturing plan created from the master open order schedule. It involves reading and following the documents that describe the operations required, while assuring that all the parts comply with quality standards. It should be noted that employees are given responsibility to read process documents and interpret whether all required operations have been performed per the defined process prior to performing their operation.•Read and follow directions provided on process documents and shop drawings that describe the operations required, while assuring that all the parts comply with quality standards. •Operation of sanding devices. Sanding is performed on molded products in such a way as to not change the desired part configuration while improving the surface quality for painting. •Use sandpaper, files, “Sanding Pad” and power sanders by hand to finish surfaces not reachable with a machine.•Operation of routing machines, router table, and wet blasting machine to complete tasks. •Identify problems and may offer suggestions for improvements back to Sanding Department Lead including processing methods, sequences, and equipment recommendations.•Keep a summary log of daily production on worksheet. All employees are required to be aware of and record labor input and materials consumed required to perform job function. A Sander’s daily production should meet or exceed the minimum standards.•Utilize process documents and ERP system for all jobs moving through department, as necessary.•Perform regular inspections per company processing documents and “Visual Samples” to determine compliance of processing to customer requirements.Physical Requirements: Physically able and willing to stand for the entire shift to complete assigned tasks and responsibilities.Willing to stand for 75% of shift.
