Responsibilities
Assists the anatomic pathologist in performing autopsies and gross dissection of surgical specimens and biopsies; Responsible for daily activities associated with processing of tissues received from surgical procedures, educating pathology residents and Participates in the quality assurance activities associated with these processes.
Perform a gross evaluation of biopsy and surgical specimens, followed by the appropriate dissection and description of findings
Will perform autopsies, but will not be responsible for dictating the autopsy gross findings or microscopic findings; take and catalog indicated gross photographs
Assist the Histotechnologist in accessioning of specimens, the performance of frozen sections, the radiologic imaging of certain specimens, and transportation when necessary
Assist pathologists in collection of data for the quality improvement program
Qualifications
Required Education and Certification:
*Master’s Degree ‐ Biological Sciences
*PA Certification
