About the Opportunity

Job Summary

Material Techs perform routine clerical and manual duties required for the operation of a storeroom. This includes receive, identify, store, disburse, replenish, account for, and ship a variety of material, equipment and supplies. This position requires the person to effectively assist higher rated employees in the performance of such duties. When qualified and directed to do so, this person will instruct and effectively direct other employees in the performance of any duties, for which qualified. Performs other stores related work as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – Material Tech I

The following minimum qualifications must be met in order to obtain and retain this classification:

SAFETY: Must express willingness to work safely and to fully comply with Company Safety Manual rules and safe work procedures. Must be willing to comply with all occupational safety and health standards, and all safety rules, orders, and/or regulations presently or subsequently established by any Federal, State, or local governmental agency or body, which in any way apply to the employees actions and conduct. Must wear appropriate PPE as required.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Ability to meet knowledge requirements as determined by company testing, interviews, and training programs.

PHYSICAL: Requires frequent walking, standing, bending, and climbing of stairs and ladders. Must be able to work at heights and on platforms. Ability to perform heavy physical work (weights up to 50 lbs), requiring the handling of occasional lifts and lifts for an extended period of time. Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in a wide range of temperatures and in all types of weather.

MENTAL: Mental ability to perform the duties involved in warehouse and power station work.

CLERICAL: Ability to work with computers and all job related software applications.

WORK CHARACTERISTICS: Adherence to all company policies, including but not limited to cell phone policy, attendance policy, harassment policy, etc. Meet Company Standards in regard to personal conduct and appearance, work performance, safety practices. Perform daily operational duties as a team player. Must have a cooperative temperament and be able to maintain harmony with employees and others with whom the work must be coordinated.

DRIVING: Must possess a valid drivers license.

MATERIAL TECH I (Step 1):

  1. Complete Plant and Company Safety Requirements as designated.

  2. Complete Fork Lift Certification Program. Forklift / Manlift / 4-Directional.

  3. Familiar with Basic Stock Types; VB, VR, PD, PR, ND

  4. Become familiar with computer functionality and SAP

  • Familiarized with stock material types, issue units and basic search:

  • MD04 (display stock)

  • MM03 (stock overview)

  • ME2M (stock number to PO search)

  • Perform basic goods movements in SAP:

  • MIGO_GR (Goods Receipts)

  1. Familiar with the basic Physical Inventory Process. Be able to verbally explain the steps and process required. Must be able to perform accurate inventory counts and process appropriate paperwork.

  1. Issue material using Maintenance Work Orders and Reservations if available.
  • MB1A 261 – (Issuing Material)

  • MB1A 261 - (Issuing Material to a reservation)

  1. Must be able to locate stock numbers, material descriptions, mfg part number, etc in SAP.

  2. Operate a Forklift Safely with Supervision

  3. Unload and Load storeroom deliveries in a safe manner

  4. Become familiar and in sync with warehouse routine. Active participant with crew responsibilities and activities.

  5. Learn to Identify Storeroom Locations.

MATERIAL TECH I (Step 2):

  1. Increased knowledge and understanding of the different Stock Material Types; VB, VR, PD, PR, ND

  2. Increased Knowledge in Issuing Material and crediting return material

  • MB1A 261 – (Issuing Material)

  • MB1A 261 - (Issuing Material to a reservation)

  • MB1A 262 – (Credit Material that is NOT rebuilt)

  • Manifest Materials between storerooms. Be able to perform all functions associated with manifest process.

  • MB1B 303/305( Manifest to / from)

  1. Advanced parts searches using
  • ZM48 (Parts Search)

  • MMBE (Stock Overview)

  1. Familiar with Work Orders and IW33

  2. Creates Basic PO’s

  • ME03 (Source List)

  • ME21N (Create Purchase Order)

  1. Learning to recognize New Stock and research using ZMRRQ (Display New Stock Request)

  2. Must be a team player and effectively balance expected work load.

  3. Maintain equipment and work areas in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.

  4. Must be able to operate all warehouse material handling equipment with limited supervision.

MATERIAL TECH I (Step 3):

  1. Knowledge of processes pertaining to claims for damaged material.

  2. Receive, identify, and check material, tools, and equipment delivered to the storeroom. Check and identify overages, shortages, damaged or discrepant material.

  3. Process material returns accurately and timely.

  4. Prepare material and equipment for outbound shipments. Complete necessary shipping documents and make arrangements.

  5. Must be able to enter/change stock locations in SAP. Can recognize the need to consolidate/move stock parts.
