Colonial Pipeline is the largest refined products pipeline in the United States, transporting more than 100 million gallons or 2.5 million barrels per day. Colonial transports various grades of gasoline, diesel fuel, home heating oil, jet fuel, and fuels for the U.S. military through a pipeline system. Colonial transports approximately 45 percent of all fuel consumed on the East Coast, providing refined products to more than 50 million Americans.

About the Senior Terminal Technician Role

As The Senior Terminal Technician, you are responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of all facilities and equipment as needed. The Senior Terminal Technician will perform independently and/or oversee the construction and/or maintenance activities performed by third parties and may lead other technicians and terminal operators in the installation, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of industrial, electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems and equipment at a terminal truck rack facility for product storage and transportation. In this role, you will provide support to local, district, and other Terminal and Operations teams, as necessary.

What You Get to Do:

  • Read, understand, and interpret technical material (i.e., Colonial, vendor, and contractor electrical and mechanical drawings, prints and manuals, spreadsheets, and other data sources, etc.).

  • Utilize engineering and project plans to complete assigned work which may include directing the work of contractor personnel in facility maintenance and special projects.

  • Identify, report, and partner with internal departments to correct safety and environmental concerns.

  • Collaborate with internal departments or vendors and leverage IT platforms to maintain and purchase tools, materials, and manage inventory to complete routine maintenance and special projects.

  • Responsible for completing and maintaining timely and accurate documentation including reporting, maintenance reports, work orders, invoices, etc.

  • Fosters and facilitates effective communication with customers and other employees and display a commitment to teamwork in daily activities.

  • Support and represent the CTOC at district and corporate meetings to build and enhance relationships with internal stakeholders.

  • Train/mentor peers in the Installation and Maintenance of facility equipment.

  • Advise and assist in the development and implementation of advanced technology to ensure a more effective and efficient operation.

  • In collaboration with leadership, make recommendations concerning long-range maintenance needs and forecast approved projects.

  • Responsible for maintenance of Vapor Control Units.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree from an accredited school or institution.

  • Understanding of Terminal Load Rack systems, such as Acculoads, Multiloads, and Tas systems.

  • Ideally, 5+ years of Technician experience, preferably in Terminals, or Pipelines.

  • Ability to obtain the Hazwoper training and complete all required training once employed.

  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.

  • Strong knowledge of electronic test instrument and equipment and National Electric Codes.

  • Ability to manipulate motor-controlled valves and perform other tasks involved in receiving products, directing products to tanks, and making delivery to tank trucks.

  • Ability to communicate effectively via verbal and written communications.

  • Ideally, 8+ years of technician experience in terminal or pipeline operations.

  • Petroleum transportation, storage, and distribution, electrical and or mechanical experience.
